چکیده
THE TITLE COMPOUND [SYSTEMATIC NAME: (9-meth-oxy-3,5-dimethyl-5,6-dihydro-naphtho-[2,3-b]furan-4-yl)methyl 2-meth-yl-but-2-enoate], C(21)H(24)O(4), was isolated from matarique, or Psacalium peltatum (Kunth). The structure is almost planar. The angelo-yloxy group makes an angle of 62.08 (2)° with the furan-oeremophilane skeleton. The carbonyl O atom is disordered between two positions with a 76:24 ratio. The mol-ecules in the crystal are joined by very weak C-H-O inter-actions in the ac plane.

Investigation on the hypoglycaemic effects of extracts of four Mexican medicinal plants in normal and alloxan-diabetic mice.
The hypoglycaemic activities of four water ethanol extracts (WEE) prepared from Bidens pilosa L., Salvia officinalis L., Psacalium peltatum H.B.K. (Cass) and Turnera diffusa Willd. were investigated in healthy and alloxan-diabetic mice. The WEE of S. officinalis significantly reduced the blood glucose of fasting normal mice 120 (15.7%) and 240 min (30.2%) after intraperitoneal administration (p...

The hexane extract and two sesquiterpenic compounds, cacalol and cacalone, were isolated from the roots and rhizomes of Psacalium decompositum. Then, their anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated in carrageenan-induced rat paw edema and 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA)-induced ear edema. Indomethacin was used as the anti-inflammatory agent of reference. In the rat paw model of inflam...
متن کاملHigh yield of podophyllotoxin from leaves of Podophyllum peltatum by in situ conversion of podophyllotoxin 4- O-beta-D-glucopyranoside.
Rehydration of powdered tissues of Podophyllum peltatum L. prior to extraction with an organic solvent allows endogenous beta-glucosidases to hydrolyze lignan 4-O-beta-D-glucosides in situ and increase the yield of podophyllotoxin. Aqueous extraction of rhizomes and leaves of P. peltatum yielded 4- to 10-fold greater quantities of podophyllotoxin than the traditional ethanolic extraction. Most ...
متن کاملEffect of Fructooligosaccharides Fraction from Psacalium decompositum on Inflammation and Dyslipidemia in Rats with Fructose-Induced Obesity
Psacalium decompositum, commonly known as "Matarique," is a medicinal plant used in Mexico for diabetes mellitus empirical therapy. Previous studies have shown that the fructooligosaccharides (FOS) present in the roots of this plant exhibit a notable hypoglycemic effect in animal models; this effect might be associated with the attenuation of the inflammatory process and other metabolic disorde...
